The National SOS Radio Network is an entirely
volunteer operation. Our goal is simple:
To help create an easy, accessible-by-all communications
system freely shared by the public and emergency
resources. |

The
National SOS Radio Network is an entirely volunteer
operation of amateur "ham" radio and GMRS radio operators
nationwide.
It was conceived of by long-time ham radio operator and
inventor Eric
Knight while he watched on TV the helicopter rescues of
citizens after the landfall of Hurricane Katrina. It was brought to life a few days
later (September 4, 2005) by the resources of Eric
Knight's company,
Remarkable Technologies, Inc., and proudly remains a
public service of the company.
The National SOS Radio Network fully
endorses the "Family / Neighborhood Emergency
Communications" protocols as described by EMCOM at
http://www.emcomus.org/commwp.html.
